well party its me fav fighter, and well, remove the v38 as well then, hey man, do it, its was a secret project that vader started, unlike the TA, and well just remeber, the TD was stopped partly due to civial unrest and the cost, you want a cannon feel, the IM shouldnt have it, it would be more likly the indies would have as teh design would be sold to them to try and make some money outta the design, and anyways, this is getting boring, your point isnt based on anything really, just, in today world this is what happens, this is star wars, not to days world, you wnat to create a war sim based on todays world, then dont use star wars, use something else.

and on anouther note, how long has their been space travel in the Star wars universe, and how long have their been jets on earth, hmm, not really fair to compare the two is it.

TA

The TIE Advanced/Avenger is a single-hulled attack ship with bent wings, built from a design developed by Darth Vader just prior the Battle of Yavin. Vader flew a prototype TIE/Ad in the battle, and following the loss of the Death Star, he worked with Seinar Fleet Systems to refine it. The 10-meter craft is very quick and agile.

The TIE Avenger was a version of the TIE Fighter based on the TIE Advanced x1 prototype, and was the precursor to the TIE Interceptor. The Avenger's wings were bent inward at the top and bottom, and the wing supports were strengthened with fins attached to the hull. It also has defelctor shields and a hyperdrive, which significantly added to its cost. Because of this, it was quickly phased out of production and replaced with the TIE Interceptor.

Now more common among the Imperial starfighter wings, the TIE Advanced shows a clear advantage over other TIE models such as the Interceptor because of its shields, which give the pilot added protection, and the hyperdrive, which opens many new possibilities for missions the TIE Advanced can be involved in without the support of a larger mother ship.

The Avenger received its nickname from Imperial pilots after its excellent performance in trials and special missions, and they hoped that this ship would be the retribution against the Rebels for what happened at the Battle of Yavin.

V38

The V38 stealth fighter is a new form of TIE Fighter, developed by Darth Vader during the later years of the Galactic Civil War. It had a central sphere surrounded by three triangular wings, mounted with laser cannons. It had incredible stealth power, evading nearly every known form of sensor. This was due to its uniqe cloaking ability. It was classified by Alliance military leaders as an assault fighter.

Though deadly coming out of its cloak, the element of surprise is the Phantom's only real advantage, because it projects very weak shields. The Phantom has never been mass-produced.

which makes more sense as a indie fighter, really?
EDIT: for some reaosn i couldnt fit this in one post, oh well

Darth are you tring to boost your post count or what? Edit: ok weird... but TGU servers are wack up late.

Well yes the TA makes a lot more sense than the V-38 but as Idontknowhowmany people (including myself) said: isn't the starviper good enough for you or is it just because you like the TA? If so you can guess my reply.

I would once again like to take this chance to point out the edit post function. Not only can it be used to correct unseen grammatical and spelling errors but it can also be used to add information to a post, reducing the need for multiple posts that are posted in rapid succesion by one user.

felth you could link to the site you pasted that from, (i assume you did, it looks thought out, planned and uses big words). also who is the person in your avatar

I've posted a detailed proposal for fighter changes/improvements. Since the post was quite huge, I felt a new topic could be better, especially if there's a debate.

Else, a war sim is supposed to be at least partly logical, being based on a fictional universe doesn't mean that logic is fully scrapped. And, most fictional universes have their roots in the real world.

I've also been thinking of this possible rule change, specially for Indies : since, in most logical cases, Indies don't have access to really high tech and would rely on imports, maybe Indies could be allowed to buy (transfers) units not only from their main counterpart (I or R), but also from the other guy. And for all units, not only the common ones. Thus, NR could sell EWs and BWs to any Indie, and GE could sell TAs, TDs and MISLs to any Indie as well. This would recreate pretty much the relation of dependance that currently exists in the world (if you ain't the USA, Russia, France, or UK/Germany/Spain/Italia, you pretty much have to buy your fighters from one of these countries - thus a dependance relationship). Of course, NR and GE would only be allowed to buy units of their own base shipset (I or R) from an Indie, thus no ISDs for NR and no MC90s for GE.
Note : I'm making the NR able to sell to IPs, and the GE able to sell to RBs, so that an Indie faction can always choose its alignment. Of course, main problem is that battles would need two players for one side, but perhaps the seller might help in there.
