speaking personally from my short experience with tgu:Originally posted by The RaVen Effect:
Yeah you guys are right, I'm being far too unreasonable in asking 4 people, who said they'd be there, to play in a match for half an hour once or twice a week. What was I thinking?
i see what your sayin, but its not just half an hour. me personally if i have a clan match i cancel my entire night. it takes time to get set up and i usually eat at the time we play, but i shove everything to one side. the times ive gone to play on clan matchs ive been late once when i couldnt get onto the server cos of the password. i think that people just not bothering to turn up is a bit shitty, but i blame that on the fact that 50% of the clan has not got msn, icq, yahoo or any chat function so we can bother each other to do things. either that or they have them, and they are personal and dont want to give them away. if everyone had something as simple as a net passport to use msn when ever they are online we could gather subs a lot more easily, as an irc channel wouldnt be used as much.
sorry if what im saying sounds unreasonable to you raven, but i have never managed a gaming clan before, so i dont know what you have to do to make sure things runs smoothly. it seems to me that most people in the clan either have commitments such as familys to look after, or are taking advantage of the summer and going out at nights due to the fact there are only a few weeks left. i agree with you the fact that people should hold to there commitment if they say they are going to play, or at least find a substitute. looking back upon the matches that have been played, the problem didnt really start until the holidays began.
i can personally say i can be bothered, but im busy at the moment. maybe if ya changed rules around to make it easier on yourself by asking all players to use msn or icq, and also putting up possible dates before booking. say if we play three times a week on a monday and a wednesday, then have a poll upon a match tuesday/thursday.
