speaking personally from my short experience with tgu:

i see what your sayin, but its not just half an hour. me personally if i have a clan match i cancel my entire night. it takes time to get set up and i usually eat at the time we play, but i shove everything to one side. the times ive gone to play on clan matchs ive been late once when i couldnt get onto the server cos of the password. i think that people just not bothering to turn up is a bit shitty, but i blame that on the fact that 50% of the clan has not got msn, icq, yahoo or any chat function so we can bother each other to do things. either that or they have them, and they are personal and dont want to give them away. if everyone had something as simple as a net passport to use msn when ever they are online we could gather subs a lot more easily, as an irc channel wouldnt be used as much.

sorry if what im saying sounds unreasonable to you raven, but i have never managed a gaming clan before, so i dont know what you have to do to make sure things runs smoothly. it seems to me that most people in the clan either have commitments such as familys to look after, or are taking advantage of the summer and going out at nights due to the fact there are only a few weeks left. i agree with you the fact that people should hold to there commitment if they say they are going to play, or at least find a substitute. looking back upon the matches that have been played, the problem didnt really start until the holidays began.

i can personally say i can be bothered, but im busy at the moment. maybe if ya changed rules around to make it easier on yourself by asking all players to use msn or icq, and also putting up possible dates before booking. say if we play three times a week on a monday and a wednesday, then have a poll upon a match tuesday/thursday.

Actually this trend of people not showing up to matches has been going on since the early ED matches.

Rarely ,when I ask people if they can sub because someone hasnt shown up, I get no response on msn or icq. Anyone else on my list is usually offline.

The only other people are clan "members" who are on the server at the time, are neither registered on the forum or ED.
The idea of having an irc channel has been brought up before, and shot down just as quickly.

The point remains that if people say they will play, then I expect to see them on the server at the time of the match. Unless they say beforehand they won't be able to make it.

Should we go as far as gathering mobile phone numbers? coz when i couldnt get home in time that night when i was on for a match, i couldnt get on the net while i was in town can i? The only way i could have contacted you was by phone.

Well I agree with raven quite a few times I have had to step in and cover others....if your subing in a match you really should be on icq so raven van get you quickly ...and if yer not going to turn up then let us know....or if you put yourself down for a clan match it is your responsiblity to remember not ravens..

I personally add it in my diary at work and on my phone so I am reminded, I also check with Raven if there is a match on that I'm around when I thought I wasn't going to be or at least check the server.

p.s. ignore previous post now staying at girlfriends till next Wednesday at least. Downside cs until 6.30 at night then off to Hamilton. up side....

Don't worry folks, CDG is the same, we came to the conclusion of dividing the clan into two parts, one who want to 'play for fun' and one who want to 'take it seriously' the take it seriously ppl play matches, show for ALL practises, and get penalised if they don't. The for fun ppl are basically in the clan for a good time which is why i'm with em . You cud maybe consider this idea b4 dropping out
