The T-Mat were the mysterious P3 race in Homeworld. IIRC, there's a quote from Alex Garden about how they were this very advanced race that was just going to show up and beat the crap out of you for no apparent reason. The "planet killer" was the original design for their "mothership," but ultimately it couldn't be made to work in Homeworld. It was replaced with the "rock" ship, but then for some reason they decided to scrap the T-Mat entirely, and the rockship's only appearance is as one of the council ships that hyperspaces in right at the end of the SP campaign.

P-Mat = Nasty little beggers from the far reaches of the galaxy that kick serious ass. Were going to be included in an expansion pack, but Sierra said "No way hosay" and Relic put the only ship they'd designed for it into HW2 so they could show off their fancy animation that they couldn't do for the original HW.

I think thats pretty much it.
