File Size: 65mb

Ready to play for HW-1. Still no voice overs and sound effects. I had some free time and thought to bink the WIP intro movie and at this rate of compresson and resolution, I estimate that a 55 minute movie is possible.

Installation:

Simply replace the original relicintro.bik file located in the 'movie' folder with this one after saving your original. If you dont have a <movie> folder, simply make one and stick this file in it and place it in the 'homeworld' folder. Enjoy

Don't you think 65meg is a bit excessive?

Don't you think a 55 minute intro is unbelievably excessive?

Its space its battles its b5, whats not to get excited about with this, and i dont think the intro will be 55 mins lol it will be his own little movie thats just based on the mod i think or maybe just pure b5 stuff.

Wishing u well on this maudib...

Thanks for the flowers. The filesize limit for bink 0.8i seems to be 2gb, so at the default compression rate using a codec like Intel Indeo Video 4.5 (which I find to give an almost lossless picture quality in game), C1 and I estimate a 2 gb file would give you a 55 min movie. Other codecs give a smaller bik filesize, but the picture quality has been pretty crappy in my experience. I'm not saying that a single 55 minute sequence should be made, but several 15 minutes sequences would make a very nice immersive gaming experience like being inside an unfolding movie plot between gameplay missions. And lastly I download 400mb files routinely M... I don't think 65mb is a very large file at all. Just my thoughts

All very good for you, of course, but everybody else out there with slow connections don't have the luxury, or ability to compete with that.

55mins for a 65mb vid is damn good. Ive recorded and made videos of some eve battles, almost double the size and 1/10th of the play time!
