we need good ship icons for each of the ships in these sizes:-

400x200
200x100
32x16

after we have these, rgreat can start the end turn stuff and the app will be that much closer to being finished :D

i was playing Eviljedi's HW2 Mod, is this the one were using?
and if so can we do 2 things?

1.Keep Cap ships level, in his mod they dive all over the place and are a pain to control

2.get rid of missles, doesn't seem very starwarsy to me to see Caps ships launching huge missle barrages, or atleast change them to look like proton Torps and get rid of the tails

Not meant as critism and i'm not sure if any of these have been discussed but just two things i found odd or annoying

1) its in beta, we are still waiting on rgreats app [img]tongue.gif[/img]

2) but remeber that it is in beta at the moment, if the missile remain like that then yes

Actually, i think cap ship missiles are pretty right. In his mod he had the Tyrant as a 'missile cruiser' meaning that it pretty much just shot the missiles (though i think those could get changed to heavy rockets or space bombs)

But VSDs I and II are the only other caps ive seen fire huge barrages of missiles, and they're supposed to.


edit: i agree about the diving/banking though, i never have really liked that

I think we'll only use Evillejedi's mod as a starting base, and we will edit it "quite a lot" like Bern did with SWNR (remember C2's shipset that used SWFA 6.5 as a base but with modified stats, and C3's shipset that was an independant mod compared to SWNR 7, but used most of the same meshes).

Evillejedi's mod is a standard "harvest, build and conquest" game, ours (RVE, GCO, or whatever it's called) is something really, really different, since we ain't harvesting asteroids with the real time app, and since, basically, ours is merely a long-term game. There's a lot of stuff that can make sense with our game, but won't make sense with Evillejedi's game.


And frankly, I think it's a bit too early to already write a shiplist. I really think we shall produce game concepts first, in a kind of "brainstorming" session, before we decide what concepts we take and later implement... and the shiplist actually comes AFTER the concepts themselves. For the SW (extended) universe has a very clumsy concept behind it, a concept that is called "heroic fantasy", and should rather be avoided in a strategy game.

I'm not saying we shall fully reinvent SW, but merely that we shall put together a concept that is close enough to the feeling, yet is much closer to a strategy universe concept than to the current heroic-fantasy crappiness.
