Greetings,

I've managed to finish to Terrans/Vasudan side as much as I can except for the research ship slot(not essential in my opinion) and the probe slot (again, not essential). I've fiddled my DS mod weapon's pack to suit the FS2 mod I've been working on and it looks rather snazy. If SvK is still about it would be great if I could send you my current FS2 weapon's pack. It would be great if the explosion effects could be adjusted to look pretty much as they are but with multiple shockwave explosions accuring around the length of the cap ships. Oh that's a point, when a resource collector with gas in it is destroyed, it blows up with an electrical effect...anyone know which ebg file that effect exists and if it can be modified for ship damage effects?

I'm working on the Shivan's (nearly done) right now, which should be done soon. Once its done I'll send a copy to Zeelich so you can fiddle the textures.ll file. I'm still contemplating making the P1 race the NTF and the P2's the Vasudan rebels.

Why redo the fs2 mod, there is already a complete fs2 mod for hw1 out there although there site was taken down some time ago, the mods about on sites still im sure. Has its own effect pack as well (modified b5 pack i think)

But if ur not doing what they done and somit new then cool and if u can post a few screenies of the big ships in action [img]smile.gif[/img]

Didn't read the other topic as i came straight here as i looked in the todays topics thing. Well i supose theres no harm in redoing a bit of it but the other one was pretty complete and they fixed everything b4 they stopped and had a jumpgate effect in as well. Why not do fs1 version and just get the extractor and 3d explorer and quickly do up fs1 mod?

I'm still here, Gloomy. That nifty electrical effect is not controlled by an EBG, I'm afraid. EBG effects pause when the game is paused, but that electic effect still crackles when the game is paused. It's some sort of special thing. :(

About that theoretical FS1 mod, I think it's not right to take someone's models and make a mod with them without getting permission, even if that someone is a software company and not an individual modder.

The FS2 mod was almost all made with extracted models tho. So Gloomy is also using the extracted models with his version as he's doing tweaks and fixes.

As I mentioned in another topic, I may not able to release this to the HW community. Zeelich has been nice enough to offer his help with the textures.ll file but no official release may be made of this version of the FS2 HW1 mod. As what's been pointed out already, a FS2 mod has already been released for HW1, a fine mod at that. I'm just adjusting a few things for my own personal pleasure, although if I get permission I may release it to the community. While the original FS2 mod was fine, there was several issues that I felt needed adjusting and so I've taken it on myself to make a few alterations. For example, all the ship now have nav light engines, FS2 style weapons layouts, corrected collision detection, fixed mex stats, altered .shp's and other subtle details.

If I can bet permission to release this version of the FS2 I will but first I need to find the contact details of the original mod team or I'll may have to contact Volition games themselves (and Interplay). While the FS2 team did indeed make the original HW1 mod, they did still extract models from another game to do so. Models they did not create, design, publish or perhaps (don't want to make assumptions too much) even get full permission for to use in another game engine. Its a tricky situation with the rights to use these models in a mod. I'm not a genious so I won't pretent I know the in and outs of this sort of issue although I would still like to get in contact with the original FS2 mod team. If full consent was not given by Interplay or Volition games (more to do with Interplay since they are the publishers) for the extraction of the models, it would seem a null point to be too concerned with the permission rights of the original FS2 mod team. Either way, this mod may stay a purely personal mod for now with the assistence of Zeelich (if the offer is still open) whom know doubt will enjoy the mod aswell. If anyone has the contact details of the original mod team, please let me know and I may until then try and contact Interplay, although that may result in the total stop of the mod all together...hmmm.

Anyway, since I've shown some Terran/Vasudan screenshots I think its about time I showed some Shivan 'glamour' shots...

I rember in the original FS2 mod the Orion was reversed. The flightdeck was on the wrong side. I think a few other ships ahd that problem too.

Other than that, slick work.
