This is going to go OT, but it's the main problem we all have I think:

Look, it's clear why a lot of us hang around here. We were here for another reason - homeworld being top of the list most likely.

Now that's gone, what you've got is an aging user base mixed with a younger one who don't really know what the forums are about.

What's keeping the old people around? Not much - nostalgia? Familiarity? That's not enough.

We need some 'new stuff' going on, both from a foundation point of view to a content point of view. I tried with designing a few new logos but there didn't seem to be much enthusiasm from the populace.

BZB - why not hand the responsibility over a little? Make a new forum, and make a big deal about it. Call it TGU Revival, or TGU Regeneration or something. Try to give those without direction in GD something to say, on logo's, forums that are needed, website content etc. You don't have to take every idea, just the best ones, and then the community is working for TGU.

Even get a few volunteers from the new forum to help out, save you some time and effort. Someone fancies a go at webdesign? Ok, do it, then ask everyone what's wrong / right with it. Anything's better than this stagnation.

Rich took the website job, thats in his court, but i cant pay anyone so i have till wait till he has time, which is fair enough.

Although id be curious to know if a cash incentive would get wheels turning faster? I dont mind chucking in £100 for the job done by the end of the month, we need something and its hard to be motivated about something that doesnt exist. £50 bonus if its done in the next week.

I dont mind putting up a cash reward for articles written also, say £5 an item published, but that would get complicated to pay the foreigners and i dont want to exclude them. Obviously as a short term thing to get content.
Possibly a £50 pounds worth of something a month for the best article, again in the short term.

I am looking for advise like Crook has given, dont be afraid to help.

Btw anyone finding this colour scheme is growing on them?

I'd be hesitant to offer cash for content - if it's THAT difficult then fuck it. But a monthly 'best article' prize seems like a good idea, but not £50 worth - way too much!

I was talking to Crook on ICQ earlier, and I've got a pretty good idea that might actually do the trick this time.

I'll post about it in the morning, when I'm more awake. But it'll only cost us £82 to pull off, and kill a whole flock of birds with one stone.
