I don't mean in our mod, because I can easily change the looks of only the Kushan, which of course I have. Image

I'm talking about in the HW universe. Assault frigate guns are specified in the .shp file as Large Energy Cannon, and Destroyer Guns as Very Large Energy Cannon.

Now, admittedly, they don't look very much different from the Projectile weapons, but there must be some sort of difference (or perhaps there was only supposed to have been one that didn't get into the final game) or they would just use the projectile weapons. Since Cataclysm at least distinguished the energy cannon from the projectiles, we decided to go with those effects (though not necessarily the Cataclysm explanation of what an energy cannon is Image ).

Now, that's not to say that ion beams and projectile turrets are all that the destroyer will be armed with... Image

I do hope that HW2 has numerous P races (or whatever they will be titled), I know that the Bentusi are supposed to feature heavily, but I would like lots of other races in it too Image
One of the things which made the Homeworld SP great was multiple enemies, not just going around destroying the taiidan on every level, multiple enemies makes for better gameplay, a fact which the Haegemonia creators didnt seem to realise in my opinion.
I would like to know what happened to the Turanics, the Kadeshi, the Tmat, the ghost ship race, and dozens more that we havent met yet Image

you mean when you change kushan destroyer guns to energy it changes ALL destroyer guns?

omg i wanna cry, that means even if somehow i become good at moding i still won't be able to do it!!! i guess the turanics will never be made perfect (in my little world)

i can't wait for homeworld 2 to come out cause it's supposed to be easy to mod it, and i will finally be able to bring my vision to life!!! IT'S ALIVE!!! IT'S ALIVE!!!!!

Yes, but...

Destroyer and assault frigate guns are ENERGY CANNON. Which the Raiders do not have. Therefore, they can't have destroyer and assault frigate guns. Image

this may be alot to ask so feel free to say no

could you possibly make a seperate file for a ship like mine? you know like the same design but take ions away and put turrets around? so that for those that want it all we have to do is switch the files

i don't know how much work this would be so if you can't i understand and will be happy with whatever you put

my idea for destroyer would not really be under powered because it would have multiple DESTROYER guns as well as assault frig guns, i admit from 1 direction it would be weaker but OVERALL firepower would be good, it's just that turanics, while they like ion cannons, don't really seem to have the tech or resources to make all cap ships (sans the carrier and frig, remember in single player carrier was both carrier AND destroyer for turanics) with ion cannons and i just reveled at the idea that there might be hundreds of bullets flying instead of maybe 20 ioncannons firing,

ions are powerful but get dull i wanna see more GUNS, like i said b 4 thats just my 2 cents and if others want it differnet thats fine and i can't really complain cause i not the one making the mod (damn my inability with computers!!!!)

Actually, it's a cross between an Ion Array Frigate and... well... an Ion Array Frigate. Image I don't see any Taiidan MD in it at all, and precious little Raider MD, actually. If you're talking about the rear section, I think it actually has more in common with the Raider Heavy Cruiser...

Looks like a cross with a Taiidan Missile Destroyer and the original Turanic Missile Destroyer. Weird. For some reason I find that unfulfilling.

Well, the thing is (or rather the things are):

1) Ion cannons are clearly the premier weapon of the Homeworld universe, so having a destroyer without them would be silly to begin with.

2) The Raiders are clearly very attached to ion weapons, mounting advanced ion cannons on the Ion Array Frigate and fitting them to the Attack Carrier, neither of which any other race does.

3) The Raiders really have no other heavy weaponry to speak of. They don't seem to be able to use energy cannons, and plasma weaponry doesn't seem to be turret mountable. So, a ship with multiple turrets as you suggested would be useful from an "anti-aircraft" point of view only, and with all the missile ships we have that's really not necessary. Image

Hence, the ion cannons, light AA turrets, and a couple of other things that I'm not prepared to give up just yet... Image
